The Tagra BT101 is a 5/8 wave omnidirectional base antenna for the 27 MHz CB band, built in aluminium and supplied with its mast support. At 3.50 m tall and rated to 1500W, it suits a fixed home station that needs even coverage in every direction rather than a beam aimed one way. The Astroplane style radiator is vertically polarised, which matches the way CB stations are normally set up.
- Type: 5/8 wave, vertical polarisation
- Gain and impedance: 2 dBd (4.15 dBi), 50 ohm, UHF connector
- Power handling: 1500W, SWR 1.2:1
- Construction: aluminium, 3.50 m long, 1.60 kg, wind load 120 km/h
- Mast fitting: 0.030 to 0.045 m mast diameter, support included
The aerial clamps to a vertical mast between 0.030 and 0.045 m in diameter, so measure your pole or scaffold tube before ordering. Feed it with 50 ohm coax fitted with a UHF plug, and keep the run as short as the site allows. Tagra quote an operating range of -40 to 55 degrees Celsius, so a British winter is well within its limits. As with any aerial, check the SWR with a meter once the mount is secure and the radiator is at its final height.
