VHF/UHF Mobile Antennas

Vehicle aerials for 2m and 70cm, plus an HF whip and a duplexer. The MRQ575 is a 95cm dual band whip on 144-146/430-440MHz with a tilt over base, the Falkos NR770S a 480mm dual bander on 144/430MHz. The Sirio SDB 702 needs no tuning on VHF 141-149MHz or UHF 430-440MHz, while the mono band Sirio 108-550 tunes by whip cutting.

  • Connector: PL259 on the MRQ575, PL male on the NR770S, none with the SDB 702.
  • Cable: 5 metres of RG58 with both Sirio aerials.
  • Mounting: thru-hole on the SDB 702, a 19mm hole on the tunable Sirio.
  • Power: 100 watts on the dual banders, 200 on the tunable Sirio.
  • Also here: the HF3 whip, about 1.7 metres for 3.5 to 50MHz, and the Diamond MX-72H duplexer, 1.6-150MHz and 350-460MHz.

Our guide covers mounting position, ground plane and the cable run, which decide performance on any mobile aerial.
