MINI8 is a 7mm military specification coaxial cable, supplied on a 20 metre reel in black. At 50 ohms it matches the impedance used across CB radio and aerial equipment, so it works as the feeder between a home base set and the aerial on the roof or the mast. Buying it on the reel means you cut the run to the length your installation actually needs rather than coiling up slack behind the desk.
- Impedance: 50 ohms
- Length: 20 metre reel
- Core: 19 x 0.28mm
- Braid: 88 per cent, 128 x 0.12
- Loss per 10m at 100MHz: 1.2 dB
Before ordering, check which connectors your radio and your aerial take, and measure the route the feeder will follow, including the drop from the mount and the slack needed for a drip loop, so you can cut the 20 metre reel to fit in one go. Any joint left outdoors wants weatherproofing. As with any aerial installation, check the SWR with a meter once the feeder is connected and the aerial is in place, before you transmit at full power.
