The Sharman fox-yagi is a directional dual band yagi aerial built for VHF and UHF base station use, covering 144-146MHz and 430-440MHz from a single feed point. A 3/5 element design on a 115cm boom, it concentrates the signal in the direction it is pointed rather than spreading it evenly around the horizon. That makes it a sensible choice for a fixed station chasing repeaters and distant contacts on both bands through one run of coax.
- Type: Dual band 3/5 element yagi, 115cm boom, longest element 100cm
- Frequency: 144-146 and 430-440MHz
- Gain: 9.5/11.15 dBi
- Power: 50 Watts, VSWR 1.5:1 or better
- Connection: N-Type female, mast size 30-55mm
The aerial clamps to a vertical mast of 30 to 55mm diameter, so check the pole or stub mast you intend to use falls inside that range before ordering. The feed point is N-Type female, so your coax needs an N-Type plug or a suitable adapter at the aerial end. Mount it as high and as clear of surrounding metalwork as the site allows, keep the run of cable to the shack as short as is practical, and check the standing wave ratio with an SWR meter once the aerial is up.
