The PNI Escort HP 8001L is a 40 channel AM/FM CB radio supplied with the HS81 headset, a microphone and the brackets and cables needed to fit it in a vehicle. The switch on the front panel selects the emergency channel (19), the normal operating mode (CH) or the key lock function (L), a useful function in situations where accidental presses of the station keys are to be avoided. A separate switch changes the modulation type between AM and FM, so you can select the operating mode you need.
The adjustable automatic squelch (ASQ) is an innovation in the CB segment. Rather than simply switching the ASQ on or off, PNI has made it adjustable, a function that allows up to 100% of interference, background noise and jamming in the CB band to be eliminated, which offers maximum comfort even for the most demanding users of CB car radio stations.
The station has a standard 6-pin microphone jack on the front panel. The microphone included in the package has buttons for channel selection, a PTT button and an ASQ activation button. The front panel also carries plugs for connecting the pair of headphones with microphone that is included in the package. The HP 8001L complies with the latest European CB standards.
